“Tango en Punta” is the first and only tango festival in the world with inclusion of people with disabilities. Organised since 2012, it takes place each year on two continents: in February in Uruguay (Punta del Este) and in June / September- in Austria (Vienna & Bregenz). It is a place where international tango professionals and hundreds of tango lovers independent of nationality, age, gender, physical and mental abilities meet each other for a weekend of embrace that knows no borders. Our past editions have brought together more than 1000 visitors, year after year.
In order to promote inclusion and to reach more people, it is essential to offer an attractive and international event.

This event gives inclusion a representative frame which makes it externally visible and therefore attract the attention of people, who otherwise would not get in touch with inclusion.
“Tango en Punta” had its debut 2012 in Uruguay and from that moment on takes place twice a year in Uruguay and Austria.

During the 4 days of this mega-event we propose numerous workshops, milongas, exhibitions, live music, shows and much more with world-famous tango dancers, musicians and djs, all activities having an inclusion aspect. Artists who make the magic of the festival include:Amazing dancers and teachers such as Lucila Cionci & Joe Corbata, Ariadna Naveira & Fernando Sánchez, Martín Maldonado & Maurizio Ghella, Noelia Hurtado & Carlitos Espinosa, Paola Mainero & Gustavo Aramburu, Sayaka Higuchi & Joscha Engel among many many others…
Celebrated musicians such as Ariel Ardit y su Orquesta Típica, Enrique Día, Julio Cobelli and Olga Delgrossi, El Cachivache Quinteto, Dúo Luna-Tobaldi, Dúo Ranas etc.,

“Embracing Tango, Embracing Inclusion” has been the philosophy of the festival since its beginning. It embodies the spirit of the Tinkers, that of fellowship and meeting. The festival represents the culmination of all the inclusion activities carried out by the Tinkers Association during the whole year. Among the many activities of the festival, a large part of the program is directly pointing at inclusion: IN-Classes, IN-Milongas, IN-Concert and photo and video exhibitions.

People of all abilities, from seasoned tango dancers to people approaching tango for the first time, participants to the “Embracing Tango” workshops and passers-by, all join each other in a tango embrace that knows no limits of age, gender, nationality and abilities.
The 2016 edition of the festival will propose for the first time a Seminar for persons who want to teach inclusion-tango. It is aimed primarily at tango teachers, pedagogues and social workers, based on the multi-year teaching experience of the Tinkers.
Besides the many afternoon and night milongas, the trade-mark of “Tango en Punta” is undoubtedly the IN-Milonga, the inclusion milonga that opens with an inclusion-tango class led by the Tinkers for anyone who wants to have an unique tango experience. People of all abilities, from seasoned tango dancers to people approaching tango for the first time, participants to the “Embracing Tango” workshops and passers-by, all join each other in a tango embrace that knows no limits of age, gender, nationality and abilities. After the class, everyone is invited to join the party, the IN-Milonga.
Another highlight of the festival is the IN-Concert, a multi-disciplinary performance which truly embraces tango and the meaning of inclusion on stage. On this occasion selected participants of the intensive tango inclusion workshops join in artistic creation with professional dancers, musicians, choreographers, photographers, film-makers. Especially created each year for the festival, the IN-concert is a feast for the eyes, ears and soul!
The 2016 edition presents in world-premiere new tango music composed by Julio Cobelli & the duo Luna-Tobaldi, with original lyrics about inclusion created by the screenwriter Siul Bango.
